Happy Thanksgiving - 30 Things That I'm Currently Thankful For

HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Now I know I'm not American or Canadian, nor will I be feasting on succulent roast turkey, yams and pumpkin pie today *sob* (never tried it but I really want to) but there's something about this holiday that really resonates with me.

I love the idea of dedicating a day to being thankful for all that you have in your life. Especially because I'm guilty of taking things for granted, as I'm sure many of you are too.

It's easily done. Life goes past like a whirlwhind and we all get caught up in it, rarely taking the opportunity to just step the eff step back and APPRECIATE. Appreciate all that we have, both the big things (friends, family, beloved 4-legged family members) and the small, silly things.

Here's what I'm thankful for at this snapshot in time.

1. The new employee that joined my work recently. His happy-go-lucky demeanor is slowly but surely rubbing off on the rest of us.

2. My hair behaving itself. Okay, so I won't be ditching my Cloud Nines anytime soon as my hair is still ultra unruly and curly if I leave it be, (Medusa eat your heart out) but it's been hella soft lately. And a LOT less frizzy too.

3. That I remember life before the internet plagued our lives. Don't get me wrong, I'm dependent on the internet as much as the next person but it makes me happy to think back to the days before smartphones and apps and yeah, simpler times.

4. Hot drinks: tea, Options white hot chocolate, winter spiced Ribena and mulled, well, mulled anything. There's nothing better than a hot beverage to warm the cockles of my heart.

5. My family's happiness.

6. My goose feather duvet. Honestly, investing in a feather stuffed duvet was an absolute game changer.

7. My health. It's only recently that I realise how much I take my good health for granted. My body has served me damn well for the last 25 years and it's about time I gave it some thanks. So yeah, cheers bod.

8. Blankets. ALL the blankets. Sometimes, during exceptionally cold winter evenings, it's hard to distinguish where the blanket ends and I begin.

9. My car.

10. Head rubs. Especially when I've had a stressful day.

11. Diet coke, always.

12. Girl friends. As much as I adore Ed I'll often get to a point where I CRAVE female company, I need it. I have the best gal pals and I am forever grateful that they are a part of my life and have been for over a decade.

13. Upcoming plans. I have so much planned over the next month. Bring it on. Keeping busy is the best way to stave off my SAD.

14. Bruges. I'm lucky enough to be visiting the Medieval, fairytale esque town of Bruges for the infamous Christmas market.

15. Duke, my house rabbit. For just being his cute, lovable self.

16. Animals in general.

17. The snooze button. It's either a blessing or a curse. For me, it's a total blessing.

18. Words. Written, spoken, it doesn't matter. Language is a beautiful thing and should never be taken for granted.

19. Work. It keeps me busy, it keeps my mind busy. Oh and it also pays the bills (minor detail, eh?)

20. Our lovely home.

21. Convenience food. We're busy people us millennials. We don't often have time to whip up fancy meals after work. Either that or we just can't be arsed. Sometimes though, chicken dippers, beans and potato waffles is all a girl needs.

22. Knowing that people care.

23. Caffeine. I don't depend on it but I'm grateful to know it's there if I need help out of a 3pm work slump.

24. Blustery, rainy weather whilst I'm dozing in bed.

25. Crunchy peanut butter. Baked into things, spread onto things, it doesn't matter.

26. Grey's Anatomy. I mentioned in my last post that I've only just discovered this programme. Well, now I'm well and truly obsessed and the fact I caught on so late means I've got hours of binge watching ahead of me.

27. Sunny but cold days.

28. Cuddles.

29. That slight muscle ache I get the day after working out. It's a great motivator and reminder that I'm not doing all this exercise for nothing.

30. Sit down meals. I love the togetherness of it. Phones are banned at the dinner table so it's a great chance to share stories and catch up.

What are you most thankful for recently?
