Things I've Been Loving Lately #1

Ahhhh, finally I have reached that point where all that's left on my to-do list is to sprawl across the sofa with Ed, watch a couple of episodes of Grey's Anatomy (I'm HOOKED - how have I only just discovered this programme?) and eventually head up to bed.

I've got a hot chocolate in my 'Mrs' mug and a puff pastry mince pie to hand and I'm ready to relaaax.

However, before I switch off my brain for the night, I'm gonna share with you some things that I've been loving/things that I've enjoyed recently. My favourites if you will.

I'll keep it short and sweet. Here we go.

There are no words to describe how visually stunning and eye-opening this programme is. I remember being awestruck watching it's predecessor - Planet Earth - 10 years ago and I'm just as fascinated and captivated (if not more so) by this series. Watching the animals in such an intimate way has had me howling one minute and then crying the next.

David Attenborough, you're my hero. May your soothing voice live on our TV screens forever.

My new favourite hot chocolate. In fact, it's what I'm slurping now. It's creamy, sweet (but not too sickly) and it's only 44 calories per serving, making it ideal for me to have after the gym when I want to trick my brain into thinking I've had something naughty.

I also love it stirred into hot milk with a flurry of whipped cream on top for an indulgent treat.

I went to my first Christmassy event of the year on the weekend and it gave me all the festive feels. I know I know, we're still only in November, but guys, there's only 5 weekends to go! I drank mulled cranberry cider, cooed over this handsome chap of a reindeer and got my first bit of Christmas shopping done. It's got me so pumped for Bruges. 1 WEEK TO GO.

Original Source have been my go-to shower gel brand since 2009. Their products are affordable, ethical and they always smell delectable.

I was lucky enough to be sent a few of their newish products to try and guess what, I have a new favourite, the green banana and bamboo milk shower milk. It's such a lovely product; the fragrance is subtle but uplifiting (it kinda smells like banana sherbert, if that's even a thing) and it's silky soft, perfect for hydrating my skin in the colder months.

I acquired a new life skill over the weekend. Yup, thanks to my Mum I now know how to wallpaper a wall successfully, without it drooping, and with the pattern matching up. It was a bit of a pig as my house is almost a century old so all the walls are skew-wiff, but we managed it. There was a bit of an incident involving the wallpaper paste (I neglected to read the instructions) but all in all it was a success. I quite enjoyed myself actually. I've got big plans for the spare room in 2017.

Combine leopard print and dusty pink and what do you get? My new favourite accessory. I'm still yet to learn how to wear it properly so that it looks effortlessly chic and NOT like I'm being swaddled but I'll keep trying 'cause it's just so damn beautiful and snuggly.

This is the first NYX liquid lipstick I have bought and I am super impressed with it. It's not as messy to apply as I had feared and that opaque matte finish is just gorgeous. It's staying power isn't fantastic (I won't be wearing it out to dinner again) but it was only £6.50 so it can be forgiven.

I chose this particular colour for Halloween but it's ended up as a staple in my make up draw as I really like how it looks on me. It's an unusual deep taupe shade with lilac undertones and looks striking against pale skin.

  1. I am totally with you there about Planet Earth II, it's such a fascinating and beautiful programme, and David Attenborough serves a great reminder that not all heroes wear capes haha. Yay for learning how to wallpaper, I honestly think that is a skill that can see you through life (although I can't do it, haha). I love the NYX lipstick too, the shade really suits you!

    1. It's such an eyeopener isn't it? Mother nature is cruel! And yes, good old David Attenborough, he's amazing. I can't believe that he's 90.

Wallpapering was a lot more straightforward than I thought it was going to be - although it does take a great deal of patience as it's quite fiddly.

& thank you, I definitely need to get my hands on some more of the NYX lipsticks x
