The Best Day Of My Life || Our Wedding In Ravello, Italy

WARNING: This post is extremely photo heavy.

Now that Ed and I have done the rounds showing the family our professional wedding snaps, I thought it would be acceptable to share them on the interweb (any excuse to relive my special day - seriously, I have not stopped flicking through the photos since we got them.)

After 6 1/2 years of being together (and a whopping 5 1/2 since he proposed) Ed and I got hitched on July 15th of this year. Our wedding was a destination one, i.e. not in the UK. It was held in the beautiful Ravello - a small historic town situated right at the top of the Amalfi coast in Italy.

If I were to sum up Ravello in just a few words/phrases, it would be: rustic, picturesque, romantic and OMG THAT VIEW THOUGH. It's seriously stunning and was the perfect setting for our intimate wedding.

SEE, told ya.

It's safe to say that our wedding day didn't get off to the best start. Not long after we had awoken, we were greeted with rain. That's right, it was raining in the middle of Summer in ITALY which, according to our wedding planner is practically unheard of. And not only was it raining but there was a storm too. A full-blown affair with thunder and lightning.

Lovely. Apparently though, according to some cultures, rain on the morning of your wedding day is considered good luck. Now, if that's the case (I hope it is, I do adore that husband of mine) then our marriage is well and truly blessed.

Anyway, being the true Brits that we are, we didn't let the rain dampen our spirits, we just soldiered on getting ourselves preened and ready whilst simultaneously (silently) praying to the weather gods for a break.

And luckily, an hour before I was due to walk down the aisle, the rain abruptly stopped and the sun came beating down. Coinsodence or just sheer dumb luck?

Either way it was the happiest day of my life, it truly was PERFECT. Well, except for a few minor hiccups like a bee getting caught in my dress whilst we were trying to have our romantic couple-y photos taken, or when a member of my family projectile vomited (after drinking ALL the wine) in front of our gorgeous reception venue.

Still, I'm told a wedding isn't really a wedding unless a bit of drama goes down and it could have been a hell of a lot worse. The important thing is that everyone had a jolly good time. And they did, I'm sure.

Anyway, on that note, PHOTOS. Don't worry, there's no evidence of aforementioned puke.

I didn't want this post to come across as an advertisement so I've not included any detailed information on the venues, our wedding planner, getting married in Italy etc. However if you do want to know anything at all, either email me or leave a message below and I'll be more than happy to assist.

I truly do recommend the beautiful Ravello to any newlyweds-to-be.

Can we do it all again please?
