5 Recent Additions To My Beauty Collection That I Absolutely LOVE.

Today’s post is a novel one because it’s beauty oriented and I rarely have anything to say on the beauty front. Mainly because I tend to stick to what I know and love (y'know, if it ain't broke, don't fix it). Although, thankfully I have moved on from the days of cakey dream matte mousse and Barry M dazzle dust - that shit used to get EVERYWHERE.

I also only really wear 'proper makeup' (not just concealer to cover up those pesky eye bags) on weekends, so it seems silly to own more than what I need/can use up before it's destined for the bin.

However, there are a few products that recently wangled their way into my makeup drawer, and my heart. Most were received as Christmas gifts but some I just caved and bought because of the hype #Noregrets.

Laura Mercier Instant Ink 24 hour brush eye liner
Oh lordy lord, sometimes it's worth splashing out that little bit extra on a product that will save you bags of time and muttered swear words.

This liquid eyeliner is hands-down the best I've ever used. It comes out inky black on the first stroke, (no need to go over it several times) it's a cinch for even THIS novice to apply and the flexible precision brush means that it's super easy to create cute cat eyes or knife-sharp flicks.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in Amsterdam
NYX lip cremes have been having a moment in the beauty world for quite some time now and it is for good reason. They are incredibly affordable, insanely good and are available in *almost* every colour under the sun.

Weirdly I have found that some shades are more pigmented than others, but they all give a long-lasting velvety matte finish without being overly drying on the lips.

Amsterdam is the newest shade to grace my collection, and it is the one I found myself reaching for over and over again during the party season. It's a bright pillar-box red with orange undertones; the perfect red for those with a warm skin tone, pale or otherwise.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Dream Scene
Unfortunately this exact product was part of the Nutcracker Christmas collection so it is no longer available, but I still wanted to give it some love as I've been using it a lot lately. Plus, it's the first paint pot I have used and the formula is A++. So smooth, so creamy and easily buildable and blendable.

Dream scene is a cool toned light silver (glancing over at the MAC website I would say Chrome Angel is a very similar shade) and looks amazing as an eyeshadow highlight with a smokey eye.

Zara Joyful Tuberose Eau De Toilette 100ml
So I’m not really sure whether perfume qualifies as a beauty product, but I’m gonna put it out there and say that it does because it smells beautiful.

On first sniff you're hit with zesty fruity notes, (blackcurrant, lemon, grapefruit and tangerine, apparently) swiftly followed by the sophisticated scent of sandalwood. I'd say it's a sweet-but-not-sickly, warming scent. Gorgeous for this time of year.

It's not the longest lasting fragrance ever but at £7.99 you can afford to get a bit trigger happy with it. Also, it's 100ml size means it's ideal to pop in your handbag to spritz as and when needed.

On a side note, can we just take a moment to appreciate how 'on trend' this perfume is with it's sleek dusty pink bottle and minimalist, feminine design? SO PRETTY.

MAC False Eyelashes Mascara
I'm not gonna say this is a great all-rounder mascara as that would mean fibbing to you. In fact, this mascara was a whopping great disappointment initially. The ultra fluffy brush just clumped my lashes together and did nothing in the way of lengthening them. It certainly doesn't justify the 'false lashes' name.

BUT, and this is a big but, it's a little miracle worker on my bottom lashes. The stumpy brush manages to grip and define the little blighters no problem which is something I struggle to do with my all-time no.1 mascara (Benefit 'They're Real' in case anyone was wondering). That's gotta count for something, right?

I will continue to use it for that alone.
