Making A Start On The Baby's Room

I'm writing this at lightning speed, as no doubt my Mum is already marching over to my house and I want to get this up, or at least ready to post, before she gets here. I've got a busy weekend ahead, (YAY FOR BH WEEKENDS) jam packed with plans and I want to spend it mostly technology-free. And that means no blogging.

But yes, point is, my Mum is on her way over so we can get crack-a-lackin' on the baby's room, aka the nursery. HOW EXCITING.

We've set aside the next couple of Saturdays to get the cosmetic stuff done (i.e the wallpapering and painting) before we buy and move in the furniture and all the other baby-related gubbins.

I've got a theme in mind for his room (it's based around the little cloud cushion I picked up in Ikea) as well as a colour scheme and other ideas, thank you Pinterest. I'll be sharing my ideas and a few of my pins in a separate post soon so you can all jump aboard my thought train of interior design - doesn't that sound delightful?

Anyway, today my lovely mother and I will be undertaking the boring task of prepping the walls. This means stripping back the wallpaper, washing the walls to get rid of any crap and then assessing what needs to be done before we can let ourselves loose creatively.

Here where I share some before photos.

As you can see, it's an empty shell of a room at the moment (excuse the day bed sat in the middle of the room - it makes it look tiny when really it's a decent sized double). On first inspection, the walls don't look too terrible but we shall see what horrors lie beneath.

Quick disclaimer: that hideous colour on the walls wasn't chosen by us, it was already like this when we moved in. Er what even is it? Lung pink?

Right, I had best make some tea and whack a bit of Kisstory on.

Wish me luck. I'll be sure to update you on our progress soon.

  1. Best of luck for the nursery! It looks like a perfectly sized room, and I'm sure everything will look amazing by the time you and your mom are done with it!
